Edgerton Village Council met on March 16th in regular session. Council Member Jackie Perry was absent from the proceeding.

During the meeting, Council approved changes to several of the Village’s Codified Ordinances. Ordinances are available to view on the Village’s website.

First reading was passed on raising the service charges for electric distribution. The change originally was set to take effect on June 1st, but after discussion, and due to the Corona outbreak, the effective date will be changed to August 1st.

The Village also passed the One Ohio Memorandum of Understanding, which will split up any monies upon a settlement with Opioid Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Participants that is currently in litigation.

No dollar amount has been set, as the case is still in the court system.
A new mower has arrived for the Village and a new backhoe has been ordered.

Large trash collection will be May 9th from 8-12. Large refuse can be brought behind City Hall for collection. The Village has also been in touch with Mike Kimpel for the collection of scrap metal that will be used for community projects.

In parks news, the volunteers that were in charge of cleaning the infields at Gearhart Park will not be able to continue with the upkeep. Mayor Day announced that there would be a meeting this week to discuss options for weeding the fields as weed killers are not allowed due to the field’s proximity to the St Joseph River.

In addition, Council Member Chuck Wallace requested that the Side By Side retired by the Village to be sold to the Summer Rec Program. Currently volunteers are using their personal vehicles to haul trash from the parks. This will not be continuing this year, and using the Gator will be a way to dispose of the refuse. Discussions will continue.

The next meeting of the Edgerton Village Council will be April 6th.
