The Broadway Musical version of “Little Women” will be presented by members of the Hilltop High School’s music department on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 14, 15 and 16. Friday and Saturday performances will be at 7 p.m. and the Sunday afternoon performance will be at 2 p.m. All show will be in the Hilltop High School. Admission costs will be $8 and $5 for students and senior citizens.

The story, originally written by Louisa May Alcott, follows the lives of four sisters – Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy March, detailing their passage from childhood into womanhood. The storyline addresses three major themes: domesticity, work and true love – all of them interdependent and each necessary in the achievement of each sister’s individual identity.

The musical, with music by Jason Howland, lyrics by Mindi Dickstein and book by Allan Knee showcases some demanding vocal scores for both female and male roses in the production. The songs, though new to the listener, are both beautiful and with catchy melodies. Those attending the show will leave with a few new tunes in mind to sing over and over.

At Hilltop, the director is student, Victoria Long, who is doing this as her senior project with advisors, Miss Jennifer Yoh and Hilltop Band and Choral Director, Samuel Maran.
