The Edon Village Council met on April 20th in regular session via teleconference. Council Member Brandon Thiel was absent.
During the meeting it was discussed that the large trash pickup scheduled for April 25th has been postponed until a later date due to Covid-19 concerns. Also, the towns utility bills will soon be available online. Residents will need to request a pin from the Village Office. The website will be noted in residents next utility bill.
Tina Parrish has stepped down from the Village’s Park Board. Appointment for the At-Large position will be made by Mayor Thiel. The Railroad Street water line replacement is being put on hold until state funding is secured.
The Village passed an ordinance creating an Energy District for the Village. This allows local businesses to acquire low interest loans for energy saving projects. The Ordinance was declared an emergency and passed.
Two motions were also passed. The first was a memorandum of understanding between the Village fire and police departments stating that if any members would be incapacitated due to COVID-19, the members of the other department can assist in the others duties. The other motion is an agreement with the Health Department that will warn first responders of a Covid Positive individual if the responder gets called to a scene involving a COVID-19positive individual.
Finally, a public hearing will be held on May 18th at 7pm via teleconference to discuss membrane structures changes to the city ordinance, increasing the height of accessory structures from 15 feet to 21 feet, and eliminating the requirements that a citizen member of the planning and zoning commission is ineligible to a reappointment for two years after completion of the term.
