Daphne Lyric Hannaford, 9, of Edon, passed away peacefully at her home on August 6, 2020. She was born on July 27, 2011 in Bryan to Eric J. Hannaford and Cherish L. Brown.

Daphne attended Edon Elementary School and was a proud Bomber on the 8U softball team that won the championship during the 2019 season. She recently achieved her grey and white belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at Lee Brothers MMA.

Daphne loved many things including animals, horror movies, doing her make-up, swimming and eating chocolate and cookie dough. She also loved to sing and spent time writing her own music.

Daphne once won an adult karaoke contest in which she blew everyone away with her singing of “Heaven” by Kane Brown. Daphne was an ardent scientist, always eager to learn about the world around her. She loved her family and will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.

Daphne is survived by her parents, Eric J. Hannaford and Cherish Brown; two brothers, Dexter and Wade Hannaford; step brother, Owen Smith; paternal grandparents, Kevin and Cathy Hannaford; maternal grandparents, Alex Brown and Karen and Mike Merillat; maternal great grandmother, Vivian Reed; aunts, Tasha (Jaret) Grove and Lindsey Chanthavong; uncles, Jaramie Harness (Kayla Miller), Matt Brown, Xok Vilaychith and Jeremy Raabe; other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2020 from 11 am-4 pm at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier. A funeral service will take place on Monday, August 10, 2020 at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Gary Hamrick to officiate. Interment will follow at Malcolm Cemetery in Edon.

Those wishing to attend are asked to abide by recommended social distancing guidelines and masks are encouraged. Memorials contributions may be given to The Cure Starts Now Organization, Give Kids the World Village or the Ann Arbor Ronald McDonald House.
