PIONEER: August 17, 2014: Pioneer Cub Scout Pack 13 held their annual 5 K Run/Walk along with the 12 and under 800 Meter Run on August 17 at North Central High School. Cub Master Cory Rademacher assembled Sunday morning’s participants at 7:45, and kicked off the 4th Annual Event Sunday morning’s race closed out a weekend long schedule of festivities in Pioneer.
Setting up this morning’s race event was Steve Kaczor of the Toledo Roadrunners, who brought the computerized race system for use in Pioneer for the run. The first event of the day was the 12 and under 800 meter Run, with runners beginning from the race line and running to the Pioneer Police Cruiser just east of the High School. Finishing 1st in the race was Pioneer’s Sam Moore, followed by Conner Gendron in a close 2nd place. Winnie Browning crossed over 1st for the girls participating. Next up, in the 5 K Run, Edgerton’s Brad Stark crossed the finish line for the morning’s 1st place finish. Some ran the entire course and some walked, but a good time was had by all participants.
Funds raised by August 17th’s event help Scouts pay for the cost of camps, and allows the Weblos to go to Constitution City, as well as affording the entire troop a trip to Imagination Station in Toledo. Funds are also used to keep participation costs low for families and make the scouting experience available to all interested individuals.
