As students have had to spend time at home for 10 to 14 days at a time, Stryker teachers and administrators have been holding Hybrid School with some of their students in the classroom with them and some on a Zoom meeting from their homes.

Sometimes, even the teacher has been on Zoom due to being quarantined, with a substitute holding down the fort physically in the classroom. Whatever the situation has called for has been done well, and with no complaining, Principal Dave Schultz reported to the board.

He and Beth Morr, the school Dean of Students both voiced how pleased they are with how well this year is going despite the constant need for adjustments every day.

They thanked all of the teachers, students and parents for doing so well under such strange conditions. In her report, Morr also informed the board that the Parent Teacher Conferences which were held via phone conferences also went well. She announced an early release on December 17 at 1:05 as it is the end of Semester 1. The staff completed RTI Training on November 13. The Third Grade Reading Test results are back with 54% passing and 39% proficient, which she said is similar to in the past.

Schultz reported:

•November Student of the Month for COURAGE is Kinsey Myers
•Christmas Break runs from December 19, 2020 – January 3, 2021
•January 4 – 2nd semester starts and that will be a day of Cyber Safety Administration
•January 7 – Spelling Bee is planned for Grades 5-8 on the stage at 9 a.m.
•January 8 – Grade Card distribution
•January 18 – Professional Development day for Staff and OFF for Students
Jill Peters, in her Treasurer/CFO report, informed the board that for November 2020 The General Fund cash balance was $7,191,697.28, Total Revenue was $315,104.70 and Total expenses were $753,908.68. The Board approved her recommendations:
•Resolution accepting the amounts and rates as determined by the Budget Commission and authorizing the. Necessary tax levies and certifying them to the county auditor as presented
•Amendment to the appropriations
•Then and Now certificate to Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation for $8659.00

Superintendent Nate Johnson received approval for his recommendations as well, with the Board appointing Jason Leupp as President Pro-Ten for the January 2021 Board of Education Organizational meeting and Brent Froelich as V.P. They also set the Organization meeting for January 11, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. just prior to the regular meeting at 5:30, both to be held in the High School Meeting Room.

Johnson presented three years worth of School District Calendars with allowable adjustments as needed, in order for parents and students to plan ahead for events. The calendars approved cover 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24 school years. He thanked Schultz and Morr for all their hard work to keep the school running smoothly and all of the school staff for how well they are all doing in keeping their departments running. The 1957 Remodel is completed and the project paperwork is closed.

The next regular meeting is scheduled for January 11, 2021 at 5:30.
