The Edgerton Village Council met on March 16th in regular session. All members were present for the meeting.

During the meeting Council welcomed Stacey Pelland as a new Part-Time Laborer. The Council also approved hiring Bowen Aldridge for a Street Maintenance position with Council Member Chuck Wallace voting no on the appointment. Aldridge will receive $20.00 per hour as well as two-weeks vacation upon starting.

The Council also passed a motion revising the Personnel Policy and Procedure Manual. Some changes were made to Flex Time, Holiday Schedule, changes due to Federal Labor Laws, holiday schedule, as well as future projects asking for job description updates, Organizational Chart updates, and a wage and compensation study. Again, Council Member Chuck Wallace was the lone no vote.

Council passed a resolution to enter into the ODOT Road Salt Contract for 2021. This is a yearly action where municipalities can join with ODOT to bid on salt at a lower cost than what it would cost as a single municipality.

The Village will be contracting 110 tons of road salt with the Village being required to take at least 90% of the contracted amount and may draw up to 110% of the contracted amount. Last year the Village purchased 110 tons of road salt.

Another resolution was passed allowing the Village to apply for NatureWorks funding through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. This grant can provide up to 75% funding for the acquisition, development, and rehabilitation of recreational areas.

The Village has utilized this program previously in 2014 for the construction of ADA playground equipment and picnic tables, and 2017 for paving between the ball diamonds at Miller Park.
The Williams County allocation for NatureWorks is $29,510, and the Village is applying for all of this for the Miller Park ADA bathroom project.

Council accepted a $41,436.12 grant from the MARCS grant for the Fire Department. The grant is for the purchase of 15 portable radios, 3 mobile radios, and fitting the Village’s firetrucks with radios.

It was also reported that the Village held a webinar on March 11th to discuss the Electrical Grid Demand Response Program which provides incentives to large power customers for reducing their usage during peak times. Ten businesses attended the webinar, with three businesses expressing interest in the program.

Village residents may start receiving visits from Council Members and Mayor Day if they did not fill out the LMI study that many residents received. The Village still needs around 220 more studies in order to be validated.

The Next meeting of the Edgerton Village Council will be April 6th.
