On Friday, May 21st, Main Street saw the official appearance of its first, official CBD supply store called The HCV Store.

Originally founded by Marquis Kimble in November of 2019 following a Farm Bill was signed into law by President Trump, legalizing the distribution of CBD across federal lines.

However, after successful sales and public reaction online, Marquis decided to take the next big step as an entrepreneur and open his own store.

For a while now, we’ve been hearing study after study differentiating and debating the benefits and effects of CBD, which stands for Cannabidiol, which is the second most prevalent ingredient in cannabis, otherwise known as marijuana.

However, cannabidiol, or CBD for short, is quite different from marijuana, in both its effects and how your body and brain react to it. CBD comes from hemp plants, which are close cousins of the marijuana plant.

Despite being a necessary component of what we know to be marijuana, CBD lacks the components which induce the ‘high’ feeling you get from ingesting marijuana.

CBD in essence produces all of the psychoactive effects of regular marijuana, inciting what is essentially a ‘feel-good’ response by the brain, all without making you loopy or high.

Natural receptors we have in our brains called CB1 actually appear to react opposite to marijuana, barely activating at all instead of hyper-reacting. It’s this lack of reaction which prevents our brains from experiencing the famous high.

As such, it’s become extremely popular as a more or less natural remedy for treating all different kinds of ailments. Everything from chronic pain, to anxiety, to insomnia, and beyond. Some veterans even use it to treat their PTSD. It’s even safe for pets to use.

However, since they’re so closely related, people are still equating CBD to marijuana, despite their differences and despite that evidence seems to point to CBD exhibiting no tendency to cause dependence or addiction.

This means that much of the public is missing out on the potential benefits they might enjoy from giving it a try. Marquis hopes to change this perception.

By opening his store, he’s excited to introduce the town of Swanton to the beneficial interest of CBD and its many forms. His goal is to begin spreading out through Delta and Wauseon as well in an effort to change peoples’ perception of CBD as just another drug.

He also sees the benefit of selling out of a storefront because this grants him a modicum of public trust and opinion he wouldn’t necessarily find just talking to people on the street.

The official announcement of the store was made on Friday, May 21st at 10 AM, with Mayor Neil Toeppe present for the cutting of the ribbon. However, the official grand opening is Saturday May 29th.

Marquis encourages everyone to come down and show their support and learn about the versatile health benefits of CBD and the potential and future it may truly have as a legitimate and beneficial medicinal product.
