Locomotives Overrun Fayette

(September 8th, 2014)-MONTPELIER: The Lady Eagles of Fayette hit the road on Monday, traveling to Montpelier to do battle with the Locomotives. The Lady Locos were ready for them, however, and Fayette lost the match in straight sets.

Game 1 was a heated contest. The Montpelier girls were able to pull away late, though, winning the set 25-17. The Eagles struggled in game 2. The lost the set 13-25. In the third set, both sides played with great intensity. Despite a strong effort on the Eagles part, the Lady Locomotives were able to come away with the win, 25-20.

Hannah Blake controlled the match for Montpelier, making 12 assists, 9 kills, 6 digs, 2 aces, and a block. Teammate Christy Duchene wasn’t afraid to scoff her knees, as she had 17 digs to go along with her 3 aces and 1 assist. Landri McKelvey had 13 assists, 5 aces, 5 digs, and 4 kills in the Locos win.

For Fayette, Hannah Machacek set things in motion with 12 assists, 6 digs, and an ace. Paige Keefer nailed 10 digs and 5 kills in the loss as well.
