The Edon Village Council held their meeting on Monday, October 18th at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was called to order followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and roll call.
Council first moved to approve the minutes from the previous meetings that took place on September 20th and October 4th. A motion was then made to approve the financial reports which passed followed by a motion to pay the bills which also passed.
A request was then made to change Trick-or-Treat from October 30th to October 29th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. due to the high school football playoff game at home. A motion was made to change the date of Trick-or-Treat which was approved.
Chief Szymczak then presented a police report for the month of September. Council then moved to hear a safety report with it stated that the radar signs are all up and running.
Data has not yet been pulled from them to research. No response has been received from the terminated employees since the letter was received.
With nothing to report regarding the cemetery, council moved on to the parks. A fundraising meeting was held with the special committee.
A GoFund Me page was discussed as well as engraved bricks sold for money to be used for a memorial wall at the park. The location and size of playground equipment was also discussed.
With Public Works having nothing to report, council moved on to Finances with it being stated that all receipts and spending are on track and are budgeted. A recommendation was then made for a wage cap increase of 4%.
The Wage and Compensation committee stated that they will meet next month and will review the wage caps for individual positions.
With zoning having nothing to add, the Village Administrator then updated the mayor and council regarding issues and projects.
Currently, and until the end of October, work is being done to flush the hydrants and on tire clean up. The Administrator is currently awaiting a report on the sewer tank inspection and the pole barn was sold with a sealed bid and it has been removed.
Moving to old business, Council heard the Third Reading of Resolution 09-21 for a promissory note for State Bank and allowing the Village Administrator and Fiscal Officer to sign. A motion was made which was passed.
Council then moved on to new business with council hearing Emergency Ordinance 09-21 regarding authorization to sell village equipment. A motion was made to suspend the rules which passed followed by a motion to approve the ordinance which also passed.
A motion was then made, which passed, to have one regular council meeting a month that will take place on the third Monday of the month. Council then moved to adjourn for the evening. The next council meeting will take place on November 15th, 2021.
