10-03-2014North Central Book Club-T.J (1) WEB“I’ll be at every meeting.”

So says Allyson Hutchison, a member of the North Central Book Club.

The group met for the second time ever on Friday, with three students in attendance. Discussing the book “Divergent,” the group aimed to capitalize on the success of big budget Hollywood movies based on books to inspire students to read.
In an effort to jump start the club, the four teachers comprising the Junior High and High School English Department have joined forces to achieve their goal. Mary Boots, Tana Kappen, Kelli Hills, and Carolyn Hopper, all English Teachers at North Central, will all take part in the group.

The Book Club met last month, deciding on “Divergent” as their first book to discuss. At the conclusion of the meeting, members selected “The Maze” as their next book.

According to Mrs. Hopper, the goal is for word of mouth to spread information about the club to the students of North Central.

“We’re hoping the students will start talking, and word will get out about us.”

With three enthusiastic members already on board, the students of North Central are sure to hear all about the North Central Book Club.
