The Friends of Harrison Lake held its Car and Tractor Cruise-In on Saturday, Aug. 15, at Harrison Lake State Park.
Cars, tractors and spectators gathered near the park’s east entrance by the dam for the event, which ran from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Rain contributed to a smaller turnout than organizers had seen during previous years, but event organizer Ron Dean said they were still pleased with the crowd.
“We were able to have a pretty decent crowd,” Dean said. “Not as many as normal, but we understand that with the weather.”
The cruise-in welcomed classic and antique cars and tractors, with participants able to register as they entered the park. Vendors were also set up during the event.
Visitors could purchase hamburgers, cheeseburgers, coney dogs, hot dogs, and drinks, along with the Friends of Harrison Lake’s popular curly fries. A DJ also played music from the 1950s and 1960s throughout the afternoon.
This year marked the fifth year for the cruise-in format, which followed car shows previously held by the organization.
Dean said the reorganized Friends of Harrison Lake had a strong group of volunteers and continued to receive support from the community.
“We’ve got a good team of workers and helpers,” Dean said. “A lot of people come out and support it despite the rain.”
