(December 2nd, 2014) – EVERGREEN: Traveling to do battle with the Vikings of Evergreen, Fayette’s Seventh and Eighth Grade girls fell victims to the hardships of playing on the road. The Lady Eagles dropped the game 26-18.

They did have a star begin to emerge, however. Eighth Grader Rhys Ruger had a strong showing against Fayette’s North Western Ohio Athletic League foe. With 4 field goals from within the arc, as well as a 2 for 5 performance from the free throw line, Ruger totaled 10 points in the match-up, more than half of the Eagles’ points.

The next highest scorer for the Fayette girls was fellow eighth grader Mataya Rufenacht, who put up 4 points. Yet another elder Eagle, Ellis Kendra, managed 2 points, as did seventh grader Jillian Figgins.

Defensively, the Lady Eagles let two Vikings dominate the game. Of their 26 points, 19 of them came from these two girls, who scored 12 and 7 between each other. Evergreen also hit a three pointer in the contest.

Fayette really needs to improve on their free throw shooting, not only in accuracy, but in attempts as well. The Eagles took just 7 shots from the line, 5 of which were taken by Ruger. The Lady Eagles only managed to convert 2 of these attempts into points.
