Montpelier Municipal Utilities Receives Recognition For System Sustainability & Safety Record

COLUMBUS, OH: The Village of Montpelier was honored for its achievements throughout the past year during the 2022 American Municipal Power (AMP) Annual Conference.

Montpelier Municipal Utilities received an AMP System Sustainability Honorable Mention in recognition of the Henry Street Substation Improvements.

The project involved the replacement of the village’s original Siemens Relays with new Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Relays (SEL), which improved system efficiency and reliability.

With the new installed SEL Relays, line crews and engineers can locate and resolve problems faster.

As a result, there will be less equipment damage, fewer meters affected and faster repair times.


Montpelier Municipal Utilities received an AMP Safety Award—Transmission and Distribution in recognition of no time lost due to reportable accidents or injuries.

“Safety is a priority at AMP, and we commend the efforts of our members and congratulate Montpelier Municipal Utilities and all those who were recognized for their achievements,” said Michelle Palmer, AMP vice president of technical services and compliance.

Additionally, Montpelier Municipal Utilities received Mutual Aid Commendations in recognition of providing mutual aid assistance to the City of Coldwater and the City of Hillsdale.


Mutual aid is one of the most important aspects of AMP membership, as it ensures that assistance is available when it is needed most.

The AMP Annual Conference took place Sept. 26–28 in Columbus and offered a virtual option for remote attendees.

The organization’s premier event featured presentations and panel discussions by industry experts and speakers from AMP partner organizations.
