The Pioneer Village Council has voted once again to give its residents a credit towards their electricity bills.

The credit will be for a total of $200.00 and can be expected in the month of February.

Pioneer Mayor Ed Kidston explained that the credit has been applied to people’s bills for around the past ten years in an effort to give back to the community.

“It started as a way for us to give back to the community. We have kept it going each year now and I think the residents really enjoy it.”

“Some residents don’t even have to pay a lighting bill until May because of the credit so it helps out.”

“February is one of those expensive months. Everyone has credit card bills coming due from Christmas and real estate taxes, so this is a good month to do it in,” said Mayor Kidston.

Kidston continued with, “Our electricity cost for the kilowatts per hour is lower than anywhere else in the county and possibly the area.”

“That has just been from good management of the people’s money. The village is not a bank and if there is extra money, we should give it back to the people.”

To qualify for the credit, residents will need to have lived in the village for at least a year.

In addition, each person’s account must be current and not past due. Lastly, each resident’s electric bill must be at least $30.00 a month.
