(February 13th, 2015) – EVERGREEN: Substantial offense allowed for Wauseon to forge ahead of Evergreen in Viking country on Friday night. As the Indians out-scored the Vikings throughout the majority of the evening, the home team would fail to harmonize the ball with the basket.

Both Wauseon and Evergreen syndicated in terms of defensive capability, thwarting any attempts to score early in the game. Each team amounted 12 turnovers; the Indians totalled 20 defensive rebounds opposed to Evergreen’s 14.

Although Evergreen’s defense was steadfast, they continued to struggle with connecting on offense. Blundering throughout the night, the Vikings meandered 39% inside and 14% outside the three-point line. The Wauseon boys retained their agenda of adding points to the board, shooting 54% inside and 36% outside the three-point line.

Wauseon entered the second half leading 21-11; the Viking offense unable to make an impact on the Indians until midway through the final quarter. Outscoring the Indians 17-14 in the fourth wasn’t enough to stop the Indians, however. Wauseon eventually asserted themselves victorious with minutes remaining, concluding the match with a 54-36 victory.

Noah Castle would contribute 16 points for the Indians, attaining 7/12 shots from the inside. Seniors Zach Johnson and Jacob Newlove added 12 points each; Johnson would secure 100% of his two-pointers.

Wauseon’s triumph over Evergreen would improve their record to 5-1 in the NWOAL in the quest for first. Head Coach Chad Burt also accumulated his 100th career win with the Indians.
