The Williams County Commissioners met for their regular session March 20, at 9 a.m. Present were Commissioners Lew Hilkert and Bart Westfall, as well as Deputy Clerk Robin Kemp.

After approving Resolution 23-0093, which was a supplemental appropriations request, the commissioners signed off on credit card appropriations and travel requests for professional development.

Due to traveling to view job centers, the commissioners will not be present Monday, April 3, 2023.

An estimate for the roof replacement of the fairgrounds sheriff’s department substation was approved, and Commissioner Hilkert made note that the sheriff is in contact with the contractors to ensure that it is getting done as quickly as possible.

Commissioner Westfall made a motion to approve the minutes of the March 16, 2023 meeting, as well as pay the bills as presented by the auditor.

Commissioner Hilkert detailed credit card company issues relating to the want for switching the bank that they use and made a motion to work with State Bank and Trust for future credit functions.

Commissioner Westfall then detailed how the Williams County Courthouse is expected to be under construction all summer, and reminds the public that a permit is needed to use the grounds around the courthouse.

The renovations on the fourth floor are well underway, and thus far ahead of schedule. Contaminated material will be removed out of the courthouse via a man lift on the East side in sealed bags Wednesday, March 22.
