The Metamora Village Council held their meeting on Monday, March 22nd. The meeting began at 8:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance before a sheriff’s deputy gave a report to council.

From May of last year to the current day when the meeting was held, there have been 57 calls to Metamora. A lot of the calls were in regard to ATV complaints.

It was stated that there are abandoned vehicles in some of the parking lots and the deputy was asked to run the plates in order to see who the owners are.

Council next moved on to approve the minutes from the March 6th meeting as well as the list of bills as presented.

Moving to personnel and finance, a motion was made to hire Arnett’s to clean the office carpet and chairs along with another motion to buy three frames for maps in the office costing around $150.00.

Both motions were passed before council heard a plan to fix the back wall in the office.

Moving to the Lands and Buildings Report, confined space training was completed for two of the village workers.

There is now a need to purchase a harness for them at a cost of $160.00 which was approved for purchase.

Sewer repairs were completed at 220 West Main by Eisel Construction and prices were received for plastic guards for the manholes.

These are priced at $100.00 each, with a minimum of 20 needed. CT consultants will be contacted to see the pros and cons between plastic rain guards vs. metal.

There have been sewer problems on East Main. It was stated that at one time, the pipes were not properly hooked up and were just pushed together.

There may also be a need to replace 300 feet of an 8-inch line. It was recommended to start repairs, with getting the connection points hooked up correctly.

A CDBG grant was applied for through Fulton County for the Mill Street reconstruction and a conversation took place with the County Engineer about piggybacking off the contractor who does the tar and chipping.

It was then stated that, with Spring here, the village will soon start enforcing zoning violations. An update was given next about the new Fall event called Falling into Fun.

It may be held in the park instead of on Mill Street. Fire Chief Geer was concerned about the blocking of the road in case of an emergency.

Discussion took place next regarding a grant writer, before council moved on to the Fiscal Officers Report.

Council approved a request to register and virtually attend a Local Government Officials Conference at a cost of $200.00.

Another motion was approved next to send 4 people from the village to attend the FCEDC Awards Banquet on April 20th at a cost of $160.00.

The mayor then delegated Cathy Mossing to attend the FCHC 2023 Annual Health District Advisory Council Meeting on March 28th before council moved to adjourn at 8:57 p.m.
