The folks of Williams County came out Saturday, showing why the fair foundation can rely on their community to support the 4-H Endowment Fund.
The 4-H Endowment, founded in 2000, was organized with the intent to “provide support for the Williams County 4-H program,” with their first scholarships awarded in 2003.
In the last 20 years, $87,000 has been awarded in scholarships to the 4-H youth of Williams County -who number over 600 any given year.
The funds raised for the 4-H Endowment will be used to “reduce the cost of camp for every Williams County 4-H member,” as well as “support older 4-H members attending state and national 4-H trips and camps.”
The 4-H Endowment Committee is currently made up of the following community members: Laura Allion, Jean Darby, Jeff Dick, Suzanne Elston, Barb Harrington, Barb Saul, Kim Herman, Susan Hobeck, Sue Meloun, JoAnn Skiles, Donna Missler, Elaine Willibey, and Jenalee Frank.
The banquet began at 5 p.m. with a social hour and silent auction, with 6 p.m. seeing OSU Extension representative Megan Schulte welcoming everyone.
Donna Missler provided a prayer before everyone began to eat, more than happy with the results of Grants Catering.
The event was packed, and the silent and live auctions were well supported by all attendees, showing how ready the community was to support the youths of Williams County.
