The Williams County Commissioners met regularly last week, holding two short general sessions on Tuesday and Thursday.
Tuesday saw Coffee with the Commissioners at Millcreek Coffee and Cones, with everyone coming in around 8:30 to grab some delicious coffee before the 9 a.m. session.
After thanking Sarah and Corey Whitman for hosting the meeting, two resolutions were passed, with Resolution 24-00164 approving supplemental appropriations and Resolution 24-00165 approving a contract with JFS.
Also signed were the monthly credit card expenditures for the recorder’s office, a courthouse permit for the National Day of Prayer celebration at the gazebo, minutes from the Department of Aging and JFS meetings, an MVPO request for pay, an intent to convert sick-leave upon retirement, and a quote submitted by JFS for window tint.
Commissioner Rummel shared that the window tint was deemed necessary to protect the privacy of those that work with JFS, so that sensitive information is not at risk.
Appreciation was given to the commissioners for their pursuing the legality of the AquaBounty waterline being a public utility, with residents sharing that they were thankful for them “protecting our water.”
Conversation was held on how the Williams County Courthouse will soon house only court-related offices, with other spaces being renovated for county use related to other purposes.
Before adjourning, it was shared that May 7th will see a 7 p.m. EMS Levy update at the East Annex in Bryan.
Tuesday began at 8:30 a.m. as well, this time with a proclamation honoring the Juvenile Treatment Court and the Adult Dependency Court maintained by the county.
The proclamation deemed May as Treatment Court Month, highlighting how these programs help to reduce addiction and related crime, working to keep families together and better society.
Resolution 24-00166 approved transfer requests on behalf of the Department of Aging; Resolution 24-00167 approved the election push for the Williams County Public Library levy renewal.
Also signed were the monthly credit card expenditures for May for the Communications Department, the Dog Warden report through April 28th, the minutes from Tuesday’s session, and the bills as submitted by the auditor.
A proclamation was then read in honor of the National Day of Prayer, where May 2, 2024 was officially recognized as National Day of Prayer by Williams County before the commissioners adjourned for the week.
