Members of the Metamora Village Council held their meeting on Monday, May 6th. The meeting began at 7:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance, before minutes from the April 15th meeting were approved.
Council first recognized visitors, with Jeff Truckor being present to discuss the Metamora Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Truckor presented council with proof of liability and liquor liability, as well as a copy of the F-Permit, which needs to be re-done online.
The lease payment, security deposit, and lease paperwork have also been turned in. Permission was then granted for access to the Shelter B garage, in order to allow for the drop-off of food/supplies.
A motion was then made, and approved, to sign the lease and charge a total of $600 for the chamber event. Items from last year’s event was then discussed, which included safety items.
It was stated that bollards need to be left up so that vehicles cannot enter the park area and a barricade/snow fence will be added around the grilling area outside the concession stand.
The property on Main Street was then discussed with Mr. Truckor. It was stated that a temporary wood structure is impeding traffic on the sidewalk.
Truckor is currently awaiting a grant that will be used for the façade of his building. No time frame for the completion of this was given.
The mayor’s report was then given, with the sheriff’s report being first on the list. Information regarding the economic development meeting was then given, before moving on to discuss the chamber of commerce.
A revamping of the officers will be taking place that will include board positions with no voting rights. Next, a motion was put forward, and approved, to set the price of chicken dinners to $13.00 for the Party in the Park event. Chicken halves will cost $8.00. Changes to the maintenance ordinances were then discussed before moving on to the fiscal officer’s report.
It was stated that asbestos was located inside the buildings at the reservoir. Demolition will not take place until it is removed, causing demolition efforts to be pushed back to June or after.
The decision was also made to have the back area put back to grass and the front area set to stones. A copy of the Auditor of State’s Bulletin (2024-003) was passed out.
Council was then made aware of an ODOT bill that is being contested. Advice was given to not pay the bill until an itemized list was given (which curb this bill is for).
Next, a motion was put forward, and approved, to reallocate $25.00 from account 1000-715-348 to account 1000-715-290 to pay John Pupos for a meeting attended in Wauseon.
Council then moved to waive the rental fee for Shelter B and the kitchen for the Boy Scouts Pack 239 Spring picnic on Saturday, May 18th.
Reading of the bills took place next before moving on to discuss old business. Memorial ceremony letters have been mailed to all families, and it was suggested the nuisance ordinance updates be codified by doing a mid-year update.
It was then stated the town garage sale event would take place on June 22nd. Lastly, council moved to pass newly drafted agreements for summer concession stand use, summer volleyball league, and EYA use of equipment. With no other items to attend to, council moved to adjourn at 8:18 p.m.
