EVERGREEN BOARD OF EDUCATION: Board Discusses Electronic Sign For Central Avenue

The Evergreen Board of Education held their meeting on Monday, September 16th. The meet-ing began at 6:00 p.m. with board members first moving to approve minutes from the Spe-cial and Regular meetings held on August 19th.

The following additional items were also approved. August 2024 financial reports, a list of donations as presented, a grant for SOS Tutoring (students or other students) in the amount of $7,500, and a list of transfers, appropriation modifications, and amended resources.

The establishment of a district-wide in-state tuition rate for the 2024-2025 school year at $13,189.69 and an out-of-state tuition rate at a cost of $16,589.48 as established by the Ohio Department of Education.

Permanent appropriations for fiscal year ending June 30th, 2025, approved the joining of the Ohio Coalition for equity and adequacy of school funding. Coalition dues for the school year are the sum of $2.00 per district pupil.

Approved EHS student-athletes to participate in the 2024-2025 indoor track and field season using the Evergreen High School name, ap-proved the EHS Gymnastics Club for the 2024-2025 school year, and approved numerous personnel recommendations.


Following item approvals by board members, discussions were then held regarding the fol-lowing items. The 2024 report card for the district, the possibility of an electronic sign on Central Avenue, a food service update, and the continuation of community conversation events this year.

Concerns were also voiced regarding multiple fundraising requests for local businesses, followed by a thank you presented to Sauder Woodworking for the donation of furniture kits to be used during the upcoming EHS Future Friday event.

With no additional items requiring attention, the meeting was adjourned. The next regular meeting is currently scheduled to be held on October 21st in the Loren Pennington Learning Center located in the high school.
