Local unemployment numbers for Fulton and Williams County are showing a decline for the month of October.

Previously from the month of August to September, numbers moved very little. From September through October though, numbers began to move.

For the month of September, Fulton County stood at 4.0% and Williams County stood at 4.1%. By the end of October, Fulton County’s numbers changed to 3.7%, with Williams County seeing an even larger drop down to 3.4%.

Going back to September once again, Ohio sat at 4.2% and the United States as a whole sat at 3.9%. By the end of October, Ohio had dropped down to 3.5%, while the United States continued to sit at 3.9%.

Other counties that border Fulton and Williams also saw a fairly good decrease. Defiance County changed from 4.2% to 3.6% and Henry County changed from 4.4% to 3.5%. Wood County however increased from 4.1% to 4.2% and Lucas County changed from 5.2% to 7.0%.

Indeed, most counties in Ohio saw a decrease. Only a few counties, in addition to Wood and Lucas Counties, saw an increase or stayed the same. These counties would include Wyandot, Jackson, and Ottawa Counties.

Lucas County, according to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, currently has the largest percentage of unemployment in the State of Ohio at 7.0%. The next closest county to Lucas is Jackson County which sits at 5.6% for October.
