The Stryker Village Council met on Monday, January 20th, 2025 beginning at 6:00pm. All members excluding Vicki Cameron were present.

The meeting began with the prayer, led by Pat Rosebrock, and Israel Aguilar, a local Army Veteran, then led the Pledge of Allegiance. After roll call, the minutes of the prior meeting were approved by the council.

The council then held nominations to determine the 2025 president. Although she was absent, Cameron was nominated.

After handing in the voting slips, Mayor Beck announced Cameron was elected president by the majority after confirming her acceptance of the position virtually.

Mayor Beck announced that the committees would be determined at a future meeting sometime in February. The financial report as of 1/17/25 was also approved by the council.

The council moved on to communications. Fiscal officer, Beth Rediger, provided information regarding the income survey the town sent out in order to qualify for a community development grant.

By a margin of 0.16%, the community did qualify to apply. The grant is provided through Maumee Valley, who administers grants to benefit townwide projects in several communities.

Rediger then gave the 2024 end-of-year report covering revenue, expenses, and the overall balance.

Next on the agenda was the village officials’ reports. Police Chief Mendez reminded citizens that when there is more than three inches of snow on the ground, people are advised to park off of the road to keep the road open for snowplows. With that, he added to keep sidewalks clean and free of snow or ice.

He then stated that the police department is working with the Ohio State Highway Patrol to provide programs for students at the high school who are eligible to drive called “Drive to Live”, as well as a program for senior citizens so that they can stay up to date on new technology in cars as well as providing vehicle inspections.

Rediger provided the fiscal report. She mentioned that orders for military banners hung around town should be purchased by mid-March so that they have enough time to be shipped and hung by Memorial Day.

Banners are $140 and will include a yard flag in addition to the banner. More information on how to order a banner can be obtained at Stryker Village Hall.

Village Administrator Alan Riegsecker announced that two stop signs in the village are also being replaced and upgraded to include flashing LED lights to match others in town.

The meeting adjourned at 6:32pm.
