Swanton wedding and event venue Birchwood Meadow hosted the most recent Coffee and Conversations event with the Swanton Area Chamber of Commerce Friday morning.
The networking event, held regularly by the chamber at CK Sweets and Bakeshop, offers businesses an opportunity to share new developments and better connect with the local business community.
As its schedule for the year is ramping up, a high demand for the facility has owners Pam and David Mill already booking events into 2027. They are also hosting the upcoming Swanton High School prom.
“The great part is we’re trying to give as much service as we are a venue, so we’re not just a building, we’re a service too, and we’re constantly promoting Swanton,” Pam said.
She said they are starting to get more attention from corporate customers, pointing to a recent event they held for Savage and Associates, an insurance brokerage based in Maumee.
“The great part about Savage and Associates is the CEO graduated from Swanton. So they had these huge projectors up … and he was showing Swanton and how much he loved it and his family loved it, old-time photos, he was showing the old sign pointing to Swanton,” Pam said. “It was so great.”
David said the park service is finishing up their restoration of the creek area behind them, and they wanted to use the Birchwood Meadow property for access. In exchange for the access, the Mills are trying to work with them to create a bike path from the park to the village through their property.
“They started mounding up and creating the whole bike pathway, so that’s in the works,” David said.
He said they are also planning on talking with village officials about helping ensure the continuation of its annual Independence Day fireworks display.
