Edgerton High School invited the community to a wacky evening with the Addams Family on Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12 at 7:00PM, as well as on Sunday, April 13 at 2:00PM.
In this version of the story of The Addams Family, daughter Wednesday Addams (Jewel Cheek) has grown up and fallen in love with the man of her dreams– a charming, normal man, Lucas Beineke (Chris Lockwood) from a charming, normal family.
However, this means that Wednesday must break the news to her family about her new romantic interest.. but how will the Addams family react?
Wednesday confides in her father, Gomez Addams (Emily Stuck), that she plans to get married to Lucas and begs him not to tell her mother, Morticia Addams (Maddison Posey), in fear that she won’t approve of the matrimony of the man they haven’t met. This creates a conflict for Gomez– lying to his wife or betraying his daughter.
Eventually, the secret comes out and the Addams family plans to host a dinner party to meet the new family, the Beineke’s.
As they arrive at the residence of the Addams family, the Beineke’s introduce themselves as Mother Alice Beineke (Mikayela Burkhart), Father Mal Beineke (Logan Samper), and of course, their son Lucas.
The Beineke’s then have the pleasure of meeting the crazy, kooky, and a little bit spooky, Addams family. They meet Wednesday’s brother, Pugsley Addams (Presley Yoder), Uncle Fester (Chloe Blakely), Grandma (Grace Herman), and their butler, Lurch (Carter Lockwood).
The family’s antics lead to a night of whimsical fun and laughter for the audience to enjoy as Wednesday and Lucas try to navigate the journey of their (normal?) relationship.
Throughout the show, the crowds heard many musical masterpieces, such as “When You’re An Addams”, “One Normal Night”, “Full Disclosure”, and more.
The cast did a fantastic job providing the audience with outstanding vocals, comedic lines, and keeping the audience on the edge of their seats.
The Addams Family reminds us that through all the quirky and unique moments, family is the most important thing, no matter how unconventional. Edgerton High School did an excellent job of bringing this heartfelt story to life.
