Area Athletes Make The Podium At OHSAA Track & Field State Championships

COLUMBUS (June 7, 2025) – The Montpelier Locomotives led area schools in the Division III State Championships at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium with two athletes placing in the top eight in two events

Junior Bria Friend earned a pair of podium finishes as she sprinted to fourth place (12.39) in the 100 meters and took fifth in the 200 after running a 25.53.

Fellow junior Logan Pontious used a throw of 58-9.50 on his fifth attempt to grab fourth in the shot put and followed that with a fifth place finish in the discus after a toss of 165-3.


Evergreen sophomore Luke Woodring found his way to the podium by placing seventh in the boys 100 meters with a time of 11.15.

In the boys 800, Pettisville’s Brady Wilburn narrowly missed the top eight by coming home ninth (1:57.93), just .81 seconds behind eighth place finisher Paul Westrick of Tinora.

In Division II, Archbold senior Preston Nofziger just missed the podium in the pole vault as he topped out 14-6, a new school record, to take ninth.
