The Kiwanis Club of Bryan marked a major milestone on June 18, celebrating 70 years of service and community engagement during a heartfelt luncheon held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
What began in 1955 as a small but passionate effort to uplift the City of Bryan has grown into a deeply rooted organization known for its enduring traditions, generous outreach, and lighthearted camaraderie.
The anniversary celebration began with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by an open floor where members shared personal reflections and fond memories.
The room buzzed with nostalgia as stories were told of past projects and hallmark moments: from breakfast making and assisting with the Williams County Airport fly-in, to the unforgettable 16-person pots and pans drill team of the late 2000s.
Among the many highlights of the afternoon was a special tribute to the club’s oldest living member, Carlton Hardy.
Update: Carlton Hardy celebrated his 101st birthday at the Kiwanis Club of Bryan in March 2026.
In his honor, the Kiwanis Club donated a custom park bench to Lincoln Park. The inscription reads: “Donated by the Club of Kiwanis Bryan in recognition of charter and as a lifetime member.”
For 70 years, the Kiwanis Club of Bryan has proven that service, heart, and a little bit of fun can go a long way.
Whether through fundraising, fellowship, or flying popcorn kernels, the club continues to embody the spirit of giving back – and doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon.
