Montpelier Board Declares A No-Fly Zone For Drones At Regular Meeting

downloadThe Montpelier Exempted Village Board of Education convened in regular session on the evening of September 15.

In financial matters, the Board approved the monthly financial statements and investments, and accepted the following donations:

•$134.00 from the Defiance County Ag Society, $400.00 and from the Swanton Corn Fest Parade to the Band

•$250.00 from CK Technology-Summer Painting to the Art Department

•Two donations of $500.00 apiece from St. Paul’s United Methodist Church…one to the Work Book Fund, and one to the Nurse’s Fund.


•A total of five donations from the Athletic Boosters: $1046.34 Cheerleading, $700.00 to Golf, $575.00 to Volleyball, $765.00 to Cross Country, and $3200.00 to Football

The Board approved the elementary office change fund of $75.00 with Lori Martin caretaker, and an increase to the high school change fund from $50 to $75, with Tami Richmond caretaker as approved August 11, 2015, Resolution #78-15. The Board agreed to the amended certificate for various funds, as well as the transfer of $2,000 from the General Fund to Child Care Services Fund, and the resolution for the Permanent Appropriations by fund for fiscal year 2016.

In personnel moves, the Board agreed to approve Lisa Tippin as a district substitute at Bachelor’s Degree/Step 5 for 152 days beginning September 16, 2015, and granted an FMLA maternity leave to Sara Nowaczyk from November 30, 2015 to March 8, 2016.

The Board extended one-year supplemental contracts to Jennifer Martin and Kacie Vitek as LPDC Co-chairs, and Miranda Oates and Barbara Turner as LPDC members. Also receiving one-year supplemental contracts were Jan Roth as a paraprofessional at 7 hours per day, Matthew Slattman as athletic trainer at $20.00 per hour, Mark Snow as a substitute bus driver. Others receiving one-year contracts were Nickolas Ramos as the Fall Weight Room Coordinator; Steven McClaine, Benjamin Lee, Alyssa Spangler, and Olivia Sandoval as Custodian Student Workers; and Jordan Ramey, Dakota Hendricks, and Logan Kendziorski as Cafeteria Student Workers.

The Board approved the agreement with the Wood County Juvenile Detention Center Juvenile Residential Center of Northwest Ohio for Fiscal Year 2015-2016, and an agreement with the Northwestern Ohio Community Action Commission (NOCAC) to provide services for preschool children.


The Board agreed to a resolution for the operation of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV’s), commonly known as drones, to be prohibited on the Montpelier School District premises during District-sponsored contests (including scrimmages and previews), practices, and activities under the auspices of the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA).

Prior to adjournment, the Board approved the Montpelier Athletic Department 2015-2016 Ticket Prices effective August 25, 2015, as well as the revised 2015-2016 Acceptable Use Policy and signature forms.
