Members of the Metamora Chamber of Commerce met this past week on Tuesday, July 16. The meeting began at 6:22 p.m. following a dinner, with members first approving minutes from their previous April meeting.

Business spotlights were then given by Mary Jo Fischer of Oak Valley Realtors and Shawn Ferguson of Tomahawk Printing. Fischer shared that she has been in real estate for thirty years and recently became a broker.

Ferguson spoke about expanding services at his Wauseon based business and highlighted new equipment used to produce signs, brochures, and promotional materials.

Jeff Truckor followed with a recap of this year’s Party in the Park. The event saw lower attendance due to weather and conflicting schedules, which also led to fewer tractor and car entries. Financial returns were also down, though the event still made a strong impact in the community.

A brief financial update was then provided by Treasurer Courtney Kreiger. She noted that this year’s revenue was down by about one thousand dollars, with a full report expected at the next meeting.

Next, guest speaker Gary Thompson of the Regional Growth Partnership shared economic data and regional trends. He spoke about industrial job growth, workforce movement in and out of Metamora, and local industry strengths.

Construction and manufacturing were noted as key contributors, with manufacturing generating around 18 million dollars annually in Metamora.

An open forum was then held to close the meeting. With no further discussion, the meeting was adjourned at 7:08 p.m.
