The Evergreen Board of Education met for its regular session on Monday, September 15, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. Following the Pledge of Allegiance, the board approved the minutes from the August special and regular sessions.
Early in the meeting, a representative of the Ohio State Board of Education for District 1 addressed the board, offering thanks to district staff, teachers, bus drivers, and all employees for their service and dedication.
The board then approved the August financial reports, including the cash reconciliation, financial summary, cash summary, and disbursement summary, and it authorized routine fund transfers and appropriation modifications.
Donations and grants were accepted to support student needs and programs. Gifts included $100 to the Student Assistance Fund and $3,000 to the Landon Kreischer Memorial Fund.
New and continuing grants were recognized, including $7,500 for SOS Tutoring, $2,600 for NBHP Wellness, and $1,000 through the Carl Perkins program.
The board also approved a depository agreement with Metamora State Bank through July 31, 2030, and authorized submission of the district’s financial forecast to the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce by October 15, 2025.
Tuition rates for the 2025-2026 school year were established at $12,807.59 for in-state students and $12,598.69 for out-of-state students, in line with state calculations.
Personnel actions included accepting a retirement and a resignation, issuing limited one-year, non-teaching contracts to two aides, and approving mentor teacher assignments. The board also approved head coaches for softball, baseball, and track, pending completion of required credentials.
Student activities saw several approvals. Evergreen High School student athletes were authorized to compete in the 2025-2026 indoor track and field season under the Evergreen name with certified adult volunteers, at no cost or liability to the district, and ending before the start of outdoor track.
An Evergreen High School Gymnastics Club was approved to operate for the year, again with no district cost but with permission to use the school’s name and board logo.
Policy and service items moved forward as well. The board approved a district cell phone policy to comply with House Bill 250 and entered a school services contract with Grow Your Mind, LLC for speech-language services to Evergreen students attending LEAP at $80 per hour.
A professional development session on Artificial Intelligence in Education was approved for forty-five staff members, to be reimbursed through the Ohio Tech Credit.
Administrative reports covered salary scale movement tied to continuing education and updates from building principals, transportation, and curriculum.
The curriculum report highlighted the 2025 Local Report Card with strengths and concerns, while the superintendent emphasized work to promote a cohesive culture that empowers students and noted ongoing discussions about school funding and proposed property tax reform in Ohio.
The meeting adjourned after completion of regular business. The next regular meeting of the Evergreen Board of Education is scheduled for Monday, October 20, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the Loren Pennington Learning Center.
