In a somber announcement shared on social media, Tedrow United Methodist Church said it will hold its final service on Sunday, January 25th, citing repair needs the congregation says it cannot meet.
The post described the decision as one the church did not want to make, but said the condition of the building and the cost of necessary repairs left no viable path forward.
The message noted the church has served the Tedrow community since 1887, a span of nearly 140 years that has included generations of worship, fellowship, and support during both joyful seasons and difficult times.
As the congregation prepares for its last service under the Tedrow United Methodist Church name, the post emphasized an effort to continue outreach to local children.
Church leaders said they are working to keep the Kids Club program active by relocating it to another church, with the goal of keeping participants connected to their faith and to the relationships formed through the program.
The message also stressed that the church does not intend to walk away from Tedrow.
While January 25th was described as the final service, the post stated the group plans to remain involved in the community and will share updates as it determines its next steps.
The church also asked for prayers as it moves into what it described as a new chapter. The Village Reporter contacted Tedrow United Methodist Church for comment. The church declined to comment.
