The Pettisville Board of Education met for its regular monthly meeting on July 9, 2026.

Board members Brent Hoylman, Justin Rufenacht, Barry Hoylman, Scott Rupp and Pam Skates were present, as well as Josh Clark, superintendent, and Chris Lee, treasurer.

The board approved the minutes from the June 2026 meeting, accepted the financial reports that were presented by the treasurer and approved the payment of bills.

Personnel Matters
The board approved contracts for Jason Rodriguez for seasonal mowing, Eli King as a volunteer basketball coach, Madeleine Wolfe and Craig Wolfe as archery coaches, Jadea Wixom and Leo Wixom as volunteer archery coaches, and Joe Davis as a special assistant softball coach.

The board approved the 2026-27 junior high/high school handbook and elementary handbook.

The following policy updates were approved: staff dress and grooming, compensation, review of policy, adoption of courses of study, homework, family time, copyrighted work, employment of professional staff, employment of personnel for co-curricular/extra-curricular activities, non-renewal of a teacher contract, benefits, term life insurance, student acceleration, post-issuance compliance policy, and district support organizations.

Renewal Levy
After passing a “resolution of necessity” at the June 11 meeting, the board moved to pass a resolution to proceed with an election on the question of a renewal tax in excess of the 10-mill limitation.

The Fulton County auditor certified to the board that the dollar amount generated by the renewal levy would be $188,972, based on the current total taxable value of the school district of $95,456,215.

For each $100,000 of the county auditor’s market value, the estimated cost would be $63 for the levy renewal.

A unanimous vote was accepted for the board to proceed with the submission of the question of the renewal levy to all of the electors of the school district at the rate of 2.5 mills.

The renewal levy will be levied for five years and will include a levy on the tax list and duplicate for the 2026 tax year.

Treasurer and Superintendent Report
A report of advances and transfers made at the end of the fiscal year 2026 and a resolution to transfer $92,000 from the general fund to the Turbine Fund for operation was presented by Lee and was accepted unanimously by the board.

Clark and Lee presented an expenditure report to the board chronicling the past five years and the progress that has been made in that time.

Over that time, significant upgrades in curriculum, maintenance, facilities and security services were shown.

The presentation outlined future expenses that will need to be addressed, which include parking lot repair, curriculum cycle, improvements to the elementary playground, flat roof review, resurfacing of the track, 911 inform system update, and the purchase of a new van and bus.
