Lyons Fire

The Lyons Royalton Fire and Rescue Department recently welcomed a new addition to the community. Engine 401, standing proudly at 9 feet tall and weighing in at 40,000 pounds, went into service Wednesday, February 10th. It will be the first engine to respond to fires and car accidents. The Lyons Royalton Fire and Rescue covers an expansive rural area between Fulton County Road 7 to 15-1 to the Michigan line as well as jogging south to County Road L and M.

Chief Matt Smithmyer would like to thank the community for their support. “I would like to thank the tax payers for supporting the levies and the township trustees for their permission to purchase better equipment so we can service the community. We are very fortunate to have nice equipment for the size of the department we have.”

The department has 3 full-time EMTs supported through EMS tax levies, and a fire department comprised of volunteer firefighters. Last year, they responded to 52 fires and 245 rescue calls.

The Lyons Royalton Fire and Rescue is always looking for more volunteers to join the department. Also, they would like to invite the community to take part in their reverse raffle on March 19th. Proceeds will be used to purchase a new thermal camera for the fire truck. For more information, you can call the station at 419-923-2841.
