Kattie Lee is a volunteer EMT that works with the Stryker Squad and spoke to the Stryker Rotary on their regular meeting on March 22, 2016. Currently the Stryker squad is manned by only three EMT’s and all of them also serve on the fire department. The workload is too great for three people and they have identified three additional fire fighters that are willing to be trained as EMTs. The training requires a 156 hour class, meeting two times per week for six months. Once the class has been completed additional time is required riding along with a qualified EMT team in addition to time spent in clinical setting in a hospital. Kattie said a fourth person is also taking the classes and may be willing to assist with the Stryker squad. Katie estimated that the Stryker squad averages about 18 calls per month, and can be called anywhere in Williams county. Williams County provides the ambulance and the town of Stryker provides a garage for the ambulance. Individuals are responsible for the cost of the EMT training, and the Stryker Rotary Club will consider assisting with this cost.
