Lexington, KY – Over 2000 students representing 58 schools from across the Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana attended the 47th Annual University of Kentucky 4-H/FFA Agriculture Field Day. This event, hosted by the College of Agriculture, Food & Environment encompasses competitive events throughout the agriculture industry. The field day events assessed students’ content knowledge in the areas of agriculture, food, and natural resources. Twenty-eight competitive events assessed core academic knowledge in the area of agriculture.
At this year’s Field Day the North Central FFA chapter competed in the area of livestock evaluation, placing 5th out of 67 teams. Jessi Cummins, Allyson Fenicle and Ethan Douglass took high individual placings with Jessi placing 7th, Allyson placing 28th and Ethan placing 38th out of 265 individuals.
The University of Kentucky 4-H/FFA field day is a tradition that exemplifies the care and effort the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment places on the future of young agriculturalist. The College of Agriculture represents 14 departments and a School of Human Environmental Sciences. These departments represent a plethora of academic majors to fit the needs of professional careers associated in a community, rural and/or agriculture spectrum.
