•Approved the multi-year renewal contract with Healthcare Process Consulting Inc. to assist in managing the district Ohio Medicaid School Program for the period of July 1, 2016 thru June 30, 2019.
•Approved a multi-year contract with Julian & Grube, Inc. to examine the Medicaid School Program cost report for the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 school years.
•Approved a contract with Central Ohio Medical Review, LLC for ORP services related to the Medicaid School Program.
•Approved McTeacher Night donations from McDonald’s Restaurants, James Rivello, in the amount of $557.
•Approved a donation from the family of Keith Short in his memory to the music programs, $765 and athletic department, $1,680.
•Approved a donation from the family of Aden Storrer in his memory to the music programs, $500.
•Approved continued membership to the Ohio High School Athletic Association for the 2015-2016 school year.
•Approved list of 2016 Graduates and Foreign Exchange attendance awards pending completion of all state and local requirements as presented.
•Approved the superintendent to solicit bids for one full size 78-passenger bus and one 54-passenger handicap bus.
•Approved the superintendent to solicit bids for purchase of a truck for maintenance department.
•Approved a bid from The Courtsmiths to complete the tennis court resurfacing project with a bid of $29,798.
•Authorized Great Lakes Biomedical Ltd., as bus physical providers to administer and sign bus physical form T-8 for Archbold Area School’s bus drivers for the 2016-2017 school year.
•Several administrators will be getting raises.
•The superintendent, high school principal, school psychologist and middle school principal will receive 2 percent increases effective Aug. 1, 2016, another 2 percent effective Aug.1, 2017 and 1.75 percent effective Aug.1, 2018.
•The athletic director shall receive 2 percent effective Aug. 1.
•The elementary school principal shall receive 2.5 percent effective Aug. 1, 2.5% effective Aug.1, 2017 and 2.5 percent effective Aug.1, 2018.
•The curriculum director and treasurer shall receive 3 percent effective Aug.1, 2016, 3 percent effective Aug.1, 2017 and 3 percent effective Aug.1, 2018.
•Award Lorinda Brader, Technology Director a 2-year contract beginning Aug.1, 2016 thru July 31, 2018 and approve a 2 percent increases effective Aug.1, 2016 and 2 percent effective Aug. 1, 2017.
•Amend the superintendent’s contract effective Aug.1, 2016 thru July 31, 2021, to read; “per diem of up to 10 days of unused vacation time each year.”

The district had its bid meeting for the tennis courts and Rex said he will ask the board to allow him to solicit bids for two propane buses. One will be a 78 passenger full-size bus, and the other will be a 54-passenger handicap accessible bus. He is also looking for a propane supplier.
Congratulations to JoAnn Cousino for her participation in the state bus Road-e-o. This was JoAnn’s fourth trip to state and the ninth year in a row we have had bus drivers qualify for the state competition. Our drivers were first in the regional event as well. We have excellent bus drivers in our district!
The plan is to start the gym floor project the day after graduation. On June 1, work will begin on the office-remodeling project at both the high school and the elementary school buildings.
Elementary – Mrs. Dorothy Lambert, principal
Giving Back- Throughout the year, the staff at Archbold Elementary School pays to wear “pay day jeans”. The money collected is used to donate back to individuals or groups in the community. This year, the staff donated approximately $1,400.
Spring Musical- Congratulations to Miss Froehlich and all the third and fourth graders for putting on a great show performing GOAL! May 12 to a sold out crowd. R
Right-to-Read Week- The elementary school celebrated Right-to-Read Week during the week of May 9-13. We started with an author visit from David Catrow and our kick-off assembly on May 6. Throughout the following week, we had many fun events planned and encouraged our students to meet daily reading goals for a chance to be entered into a drawing for some prizes.
Lauren Frey will be joining our staff for the 2016-2017 school year as our new second-grade teacher.
Archbold Middle School – Mr. Shields, principal
OMEA District Contest – April 16 middle school choir students participated in the Ohio Music Education Association District I Junior High Solo and Ensemble Contest held at Defiance High School. The following students received a I (Superior Rating): Maggie Henry, Lani Bowers, Chris Foor, Shylo Richardson, Riah Short, Kate Nofziger, Will Nofziger, Dana Voll, Kelly Bilen, Erin Reichert, Lucia Rodriguez, Liam Row, Noah Hogrefe, Drew McCarty, Macy Petersen, and the Archbold 8th Grade Girls Ensemble – (Riah Short, Dana Voll, Kelly Bilen, Olivia Ribali, Shylo Richardson, Lily Delgado, Caty Richer, Lani Bowers, and Sara Lovejoy).
The following students received a II (Excellent Rating): Adam Walker, Emma Dowdy, and the Archbold Guy’s Ensemble (Christopher Foor, Noah Hogrefe, Will Nofziger, Drew McCarty, Skyler Day and Christian Maley).
The following students received a III (Good Rating): Skyler Day.
The following students participated in festival class: Christian Maley, Isabella Ruiz, Olivia Ribali, and the Archbold 7th Grade Girls Ensemble (Kiera Gensler, Erin Reichert, Isabella Ruiz, Chelsea Brennan, Bervia Clark, Jenna Martin, Kate Nofziger, Adrianna Thompson, Emma Dowdy, Maggie Henry, and Lucia Rodriguez).
Congratulations to these talented students for representing Archbold with excellence and class!
Band – At JH Solo & Ensemble, the AMS Band program scored as follows: Superior (I) ratings: Chris Foor, Olivia Ribali, Zoey Poppe (Percussion Trio), Erin Reichert (horn solo), Ivan Cobb (horn and piano solo), Liam Row (trumpet solo), Elizabeth Mignin, Kelly Bilen, Riah Short, Ariah Qaimari (clarinet quartet), Kelly Bilen, Riah Short, Ariah Qaimari (clarinet trio), Dana Voll (trombone solo). Excellent (II) Rating: Emma Dowdy (flute solo). Good (III) Rating: Weston Ruffer (piano solo). This event was held by Ohio Music Educator Association District I at Defiance High School. Silas Whiteman Earned an excellent rating for his piano solo.
Essay Contest – Eighth grader Elizabeth Mignin earned 2nd place in the Elks Regional Americanism Essay contest for her essay “What I Can Do to Promote Americanism and Love of Country.” Elizabeth was awarded a $75 gift card and the right to have her essay advanced to the state level for further judging. She was invited to read the essay June 14 at the Defiance Elks Flag Day celebration.
Book Fair – A close estimate of our book fair profits for this school year: $7,691.75 (estimate). Just shy of our record breaking amount from last year of $8,000.00. A special thanks to Sandy Aeschliman and the many volunteers who helped make this Book Fair successful.
7th Grade Choir – On May 6th, the Archbold 7th Grade Choir competed in adjudicated competition at Archbold High School. The Archbold 7th Grade Choir received a Superior Rating (I). This marks the first time that a middle school choir from Archbold has received a Superior Rating at JH Large Group Competition. Congratulations to these talented students for their superior work!

Royal Short- Principal
Choirs and Band at State competition- Three choral ensembles from Archbold High School as well as the Archbold High School Concert Band participated in the 2016 Ohio Music Education Association State Adjudicated Event. The results of the April 30 event. are as follows: The Archbold Chorale received a I (Superior Rating). The Archbold Men’s Chorus received a I (Superior Rating). The Archbold Women’s Chorus received a I (Superior Rating). AHS Concert Band received a 1 (Superior Rating).
Triple Threat – The Archbold Athletic Boosters and the Athletic Department honored 48 high school athletes that participated in three or more sports this year. They received a T-shirt as well as a numeral “3” lapel pin for their varsity letter.
Spring Scholar Athletes – The NWOAL honors Spring Scholar Athletes each year.
To be recognized, a student athlete must be a senior, letter in a spring sport, and have a 3.5 GPA throughout high school.
Softball: Madison Kohler, Neila Kinsman and Shelby Cline.
Baseball: Seth Mayer and Garrett Grime.
Track: Garrett Grime, Alex Weaver and Matt Kinsman.
