Through the years the Sauder Village Doll and Teddy Bear Show and Sale has maintained a reputation for its impressive scope of quality collectibles. For the 33rd Annual Doll Show, Founder’s Hall will be filled with vendors showcasing their treasured dolls and bears. At this always-popular show guests can shop and enjoy an excellent variety of high-quality items including antique dolls, original dolls, teddy bears, and modern collectibles. Also available will be accessories, supplies, artist reproductions, clothing, doll furniture, books and patterns. This is an exciting opportunity to view an unusually extensive assortment of quality merchandise and meet other doll collectors who share the same passion for quality, craftsmanship and uniqueness.
Again this year, special workshops and lectures are being held during the doll event. Spaces are still available in the doll painting and sculpting workshops, evening dinner lecture and the young collector’s event. For more details or to register call Sauder Village at 1-800-590-9755 or visit the website at www.saudervillage.org
A variety of doll-themed activities are also taking place in the Historic Village. Throughout the day on Saturday, August 6 children can play with paper dolls – a fun past-time of days-gone-by. Children can also make yarn dolls, rag dolls, clothespin dolls and popsicle-stick ballerina dolls!
This weekend is also the Ohio Wheelmen’s 21st Regional Meet at Sauder Village! The Wheelmen is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to keeping alive the heritage of American cycling, promoting the restoration and riding of early cycles (1918 or earlier), and encouraging cycling as part of modern living. There will be more than 50 antique bikes on display on the Village Green and a special antique bike parade will take place each afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Throughout the weekend guests will have the opportunity to interact with members of The Midwest chapters of The Wheelmen to ask questions, see demonstrations, and get an up-close look at these unique bicycles of days-gone-by!
On Sunday, August 7 at 11:00 a.m. guests are invited to watch a special presentation that will be made by Good Bears of the World to the Archbold Medical Center. An international charity that gives teddy bears to children in trauma situations and the lonely elderly, Good Bears of the World will be donating teddy bears to this local hospital.
