Recently, Delta residents have been receiving calls from a person stating they represent Toledo Edison. The scammer will tell you that your Edison account is past due and your electricity is going to be shut off if you do not send in the money to keep it on. The scammer will then ask for your Toledo Edison account number then ask for a credit card number. The scammer may also ask you to wire or send them a check.

DO NOT give out any account or personal information to a person on the phone unless you are sure who they are. If any person asks you for any of your personal information and claim to represent a business, ask for their call back information and name. Advise them that you suspect this to be a scam and are notifying either Law Enforcement or the company they claim to represent. DO NOT use the information they give you. Research the actual telephone number either in the phone directory or on line and call the company they claim to represent and ask about your account.
