Girl’s Tennis Summaries – August 15 – 19, 2016

Girls Varsity Tennis
August 15th, 2016

Bowling Green 4, Archbold 1
The Blue Streaks started their season with a loss to the Bobcats. The lone win for Archbold was in where Caroline Kinsman defeated Petras of BG with scores of 6-4, 6-4. In first singles Darby Stevens was defeated 2-6, 2-6. Isabel Krieger dropped her third singles match 4-6, 4-6. In double action, Morgan Perry and Amanda Payne were defeated 0-6, 2-6 while the second doubles team of Belle Clark and Leah Miller fell 2-6, 3-6.

Bryan 5, Wauseon 0
The Golden Bears got off to a fast start against Wauseon. In first singles AJ Breneman was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Paige Moden. Kim Roberts downed Sarah Becker with scores of 6-0, 6-2. The sweep in the singles matches was complete when Sloane Brown shut out Maddie Wendt 6-0, 6-0. The Golden Bears also were dominate in the two doubles matches as Trista Savage and Chloe McCashen bested Wauseon’s Samantha Martin and Kaitlyn Sager with scores of 6-0, 6-0 and duplicating those scores was Bryan’s second doubles team of Morgan Bauer and Allie Boyer when they defeated the Indians’ Liv Ladd and Bekah Rees.

Bryan 5, Archbold 0
Bryan continued their dominating play with their shutout victory over Arcbhold. In first singels AJ Breneman defeated Darby Stevens 6-2, 6-1. In second singles Kim Roberts was a 6-1, 6-2 win over Archbold’s Morgan Perrt. Sloane Brown completed the singles sweep with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Amanda Payne in third singles. The Golden Bears completed the shutout in doubles as Trista Savage and Chloe McCashen were 6-0, 6-0 winners over Caroline Kinsman and Isabel Krieger in first doubles and Morgan Bauer and Allie Boyer were 6-1,6-1 winners over Itzy Gaona and Belle Clark in second doubles.

Wauseon’s Paige Moden, Sarah Becker and Maddy Wendt were defeated in first, second and third singles respectively during the the defeat at the hands of the Titans. Moden fell 2-6, 3-6 while Becker lost 2-6, 0-6 and Wendt was defeated 1-6, 3-6. In doubles Samantha Martin and Liv Ladd were downed 0-6, 5-7 in first doubles and Kaitlyn Sager and Bekah Rees were defeated 2-6, 0-6 in second doubles.

Archbold finished second in the four-team Napoleon Wildcat Invite. In Singles play, Caroline Kinsman was in the runner-up position as she gained a victory in her first match over Ellie Neal of Elida 6-3, 6-1. She fell to Andrea Braun of Napoleon 0-6, 1-6 in the final match. In A Doubles the Archbold tandem of Darby Stevens and Isabel Krieger drew a bye in their first match but then in the second match they fell to Missy Smith and Reilly Steffel 6-7,3-7 earning a second place finish. In B Doubles, Morgan Perry and Amanda Payne were defeated by Napoleon’s Abbey Weller and Brittany Schreiber 3-6, 3-6. The duo ended third after defeating Erika Ernst and Alex Tijerina 6-1, 6-2. The C Doubles contest saw Belle Clark and Melayna Stuckey defeat Elida’s Audra Stacey and Jiezel Purugganan 6-4, 6-3 in their first match. Clark and Stuckey won the C Doubles bracket with a second game victory over Meina Pearbon and Cami Otto 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.
