Saturday, September 3rd  Scoring Summaries

VARSITY BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Area teams competed in the Columbus Grove Invitational. Listed below are the teams and finishers of interest. Wauseon won the meet in the “Large School” division with 49 points. Kyle Vernot let the Indians winning the race with a time of 16:27.64. Following Vernot’s run were: Aaron Beck (8th, 17:08.08, Christian Laging-Suarez (9th, 17:12.18), Joshua Lowry (15th, 17:16.87), Michael Cheezan (16th, 17:!6.92), Seth Hutchison (48th, 18:19.65), Nicoles Walbolt (83rd, 19:19.41).  Delta ran in 12th position with runners: Maverick Wright (5th, 16:51.44), John Mylnarek (68th, 18:57.29), Petyon Phillips (84th, 19:19.60), Hayden Davis (95th, 19:37.20), Walker Sniegowski (106th, 19:58.17), Jaden Agsten (115th, 20:16.90), Stone Young (130th, 20:49.13). Bryan finished 18th with runners: Zave Smith (69th, 18:57.95), Eric Gendron (88th, 19:22.44), Alex Morr (94th, 19:28.68), Andrew Knight (96th, 19:37.67), Race Vollmar (117th, 20:21.21), Austin Brandeberry ( 122nd, 20:26.46), Ethan Cox (124th, 20:33.68).

In the “Small School” Boys Division  Stryker and Fayette ended in 11th and 15th.  Stryker was led by Emmanuel Villanueva who ran in 36th position with a time of 18:02.82. Izayah Ferguson (47th, 18:18.69, Israel Aguliar (69th, 19:18.21), Logan Boetz (75th, 19:27.77), Daniel Fether (89th, 19:41.78), Luke Holsopple (94th, 19:48.96), Tristin Sampson (97th, 20:02.15) rounded out the Stryker finishers. Fayette was paced by:  Clayton Pheils (38th, 18:05.93), Alex Jaramilo (54th, 18:39.83), Caden Colegrove (91st, 19:44.81), Austin Lopez (103rd, 20:15.90), Bryce Conklin (107th, 20:25.27), Jacob Ga­­rrow (110th, 20:32.58).


Pettisville runs at Otsego Invitational

The Blackbirds’ teams took part at the Mary Jane Thurston Park.  The Blackbirds ran to a 5th place finish getting places from: Ben Gray (21st, 19:02), Zach Morrison (22nd, 19:05), Caleb Nolander (34th, 19:37), Evan Warner (40th, 19:57), Jacob Myers (55th, 21:38), Theary Eash (64th, 22:19).

VARSITY GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

At the Columbus Grove Invite Bryan and Wauseon ran 11th and 12th respectively in the “Large School” division. The Golden Bears’ competitors included: Aubrey Zimmerman (17th, 20:15.44), Brittney Willis (34th, 21:41.86), Margo Morr (56th, 23:03.18), Rachael Purk (91st, 25:43.09), Izzy Rigg (104th, 27:31.87), Emily Jones (106th, 27:45.32), Elizabeth Canfield (112th, 29:29.37). Directly behind Bryan was the 12th place team Wauseon.  The Indians were paced by: Hannah Richer (23rd, 21:06.81), Brooke Schuette (38th, 21:59.44), Megan Carroll (72nd, 24:00.58), Rachel Lowry (86th, 25:12.70), Ashtyn Falor (110th, 28:58.97).  The North Central Eagles finished 13th in the “Small School” division. Leading the Eagles were Emma Zenz (32nd, 22:49.43), Kelsie Beres (37th, 23:00.53), Madelyn Scott (70th, 25:33.15), Chloe Baker (71st, 25:39.33), Stephanie Loney (83rd, 27:20.74).

Pettisville fourth at the Otsego Invitational

Alexa Leppelmeier was the overall individual champion at the Otsego Invitational. Leppelmeier covered the course in 20:09.  Other Blackbird finishers included: Nichole Foor (3rd, 20:33), Morgan Leppelmeier (12th, 21:54), Kate Stuber (12th, 22:36), Sarah Foor (35th, 24:35), Sarah Herring (40th, 25:28), Katie Hauter (57th, 32:27).


JUNIOR VARSITY BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

The Wauseon Indians were the top JV team in the area at the Columbus Grove Invitational. The Indians had the following runners whose time were good enough for 9th place. Nolan Flint (16th, 19:38.86), Nicholas Dilworth (58th, 21:24.32), Andon Raker (61st, 21:27.80), Ryan Scherer (74th, 21:58.01), Jacob Barone (84th, 23:06.19). Bryan was 11th with: Isaiah Taylor (48th, 21:03.38), Jarred Kepler (62nd, 21:28.84), Joshua VonSeggern (64th, 21:34.02), Austin Willis (65th, 21:34.49), Noah Meyer (66th, 21:35.19), Logan Psurney (80th, 22:12.92), Zach Foust (82nd, 22:32.19). In 15th spot were the Fayette Eagles with runners: Porter Maginn (73rd, 21:57.34), Jason Stuckey (75th, 21:59.51), Cole Stuckey (79th, 22:08.89), Mason Maginn (81st, 22:26.17), Gabe Maginn (88th, 24:37.37).

JUNIOR HIGH BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Wauseon was the top area team at the Columbus Grove Invitational finishing in sixth place. Helping the Indians to their finish was: Logan Richer (35th, 12:30.53), Braden Vernot (38th, 12:31.99), Layton Wilson (43rd, 12:40.79), Jacob Hageman (62nd, 13:08.78), Maddux Chamberlin (74th, 13:35.02), Manuel Castellano (92nd, 13:57.84), Anthony Cheezan (147th, 15:33.18). Right behind the Indians were the Fayette Eagles. Fayette’s results were: Elijah Lerma (19th, 12:10.47), Tyrese Pearson (32nd, 12:29.13), Phillip Whiteside (51st, 12:51.20), Eli Eberly (52nd, 12:54.33), Jeremiah Venia (102nd, 14:08.66), Tyson Bailey (123rd, 14:49.66), Troy Shoemaker (157th, 15:54.62). Bryan ran in 10th spot led by: Josh Taylor (29th, 12:26.31), Zach Seaman (44th, 12:42.54), Nathan Hess (58th, 13:00.98), Parker Rosebrook (76th, 13:38.11), Lucas Will (100th 14:07.03), Colton Smith (126th, 14:57.20), Garrett Fulk (134th, 15:07.24). Finishing 27th was North Central. The Eagles had the following finishes: Tucker Beres (25th, 12:21.44), Ben Turner (67th, 13:14.91), Colton Hicks ( 163rd, 16:08.17), Ryan Nafzinger (171st, 17:04.42), Tyler Davidoff (186th, 21:56.63).

JUNIOR HIGH GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Bryan was the only area team competing at the Columbus Grove Invitational. The Golden Bears ran to a fourth place finish overall with the following participants: Allison Zimmerman (11th, 13:24.88, Delilah Taylor (13th, 13:27.66, Adrienne Struble (21st, 13:46.58), Addison Oberlin (46th, 14:43.03, Haylee Wheeler (52nd, 14:47.94), Mallorie Staup (56th, 14:58.76), Makenna Lane (70th, 15:29.71.


BOYS VARSITY SOCCER

 Delta 3, Paulding 0

Delta set the pace for the game early on, with a goal by Anthony Russell from an assisted by Tyler McCullough only ten minutes into the first half. Paulding did not give up though and held off Delta’s advances until the 38-minute mark when Delta’s Owen Jagodzinski scored a second goal with an assist from Anthony Russell. The Panthers got their third and final goal of the game 15 minutes into the second half. Ethan Myers put it in on a rebound from a shot by Anthony Russell after hitting the cross bar.

Bryan 0, Ottawa-Glandorf 0

The Golden Bear travelled to Ottawa-Glandorf for a game that ended in a deadlocked battle.  Evan Smith recorded 10 saves for the Golden Bears.  Bryan’s record is now 3-0-2, 1-0-1 NWOAL.

GIRLS VARSITY SOCCER

Wauseon 4, Elida 3

Wauseon used two goals from Torri Bost, two goals from Jadelyn Vasvery and nine saves from goalie Hannah Spadafore as they outlasted Elida in a tough non-league contest. Bost scored with 11:15 left in the first half with an assist from Amanda Hammontree. The other three Wauseon goals came in the second half with a break away goal from Vasvery, Bost with an assist from Mya Suarez and second goal from Vasvery.

Bryan 1, Ottawa-Glandorf 1

Bryan battled to the non-league deadlock. The Golden Bears lone goal came from Junior Gracie Voigt, assisted by fellow classmate Allye Minor.

Delta 0, Toledo Christian 0
