Parks Levy Passes In Metamora

Voters in the village of Metamora approved 0.5-mill levy for parks on Nov. 8.

The final tally was 160 yes to 118 no.

The Village Council was urging voters to approve the measure.

The village’s holiday parade is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Sunday Dec. 4.

Anyone able to work should call Chairman Justin Kreischer. Complimentary hot chocolate and cookies will be served in front of the bank before and during the parade. Children are invited to have a free picture taken with Santa following the parade at the fire station.

There is a flyer on the village website that can be downloaded.

The council had the first readings of two ordinances:

Ordinance 941 entering into contract with the Fulton County Commissioners for 2017 Dog Warden Services.

Ordinance 942 entering contract with the Fulton County Commissioners for 2017 Indigent Defense Services.

Toledo Edison stated it will pay Buckeye Concrete’s sidewalk replacement invoice for 1187 Wildflower Drive, Fiscal Officer Clendenin reported.

Council asked to review the special meeting list for 2016 and report back to clerk’s additions or corrections before Dec. 5.

There was discussion on planting a new tree for the lighting of the tree. Clendenin spoke to North Branch Nursery. A 9-foot Fat Albert Spruce is $698 plus $500 for them to plant it. She needs to check with the bank about planting a new tree as we believe the current tree is on their property.

Mayor Ken Wysong has sent an email to other mayors looking for assistance on where else the village could look for help with the revenue bonds.

Clendenin has contacted OPWC and they do not refinance. They run their refinancing through OWDA, she said.

She has a call into OWDA for loan refinancing. There is a cap at the bank for revenue bonds.

It was determined the village can probably get enough in bonds to pay off one of the loans and potentially get a conventional loan for the second.

The readers have been taken out of the storm sewers. Land & Buildings needs to determine the next step. Sixty-eight percent of the town has clay field tiles. The village may want to replace these tiles.

At the next council meeting on Nov. 21:

A representative from Poggemeyer will be attending.

Beth Thomas from Healthy Choices Caring Communities/Fulton County Health Department will also be attending.

In other news, there is a need to work on the storm sewer on Maple Street. Currently they are just French drains. The village needs to rebuild the manholes.

Premier Patching performed spray patching and crack repair on Wildflower Drive with extra material used on Mill Street.
