Hilltop Schools Board of Education held a short meeting before the Thanksgiving Break, but heard of many positives about the students and staff.
The board met for 20 minutes before going into executive session and taking no action.
Among the highlights
Elementary Principal Laurie Worline reported on the successful Veterans Day event and the work of several teachers in helping the program come off without a hitch.
The “Muffins for Mom” event was a success as well, Worline said.
The Brady Township Fire Department brought some of their equipment to the school K-2 students, while fourth-graders got to tour the station.
Fog cancelled classes which forced the postponement of testing and Grandparents Day. The testing was supposed to be completed by Nov. 21 and Grandparents Day for grades 4-6 will be rescheduled.
Enrollment stood at 316 students, down 4 from last month.
The High School report from Principal Steven J. Riley talked of the mock presidential debate and election organized by Ms. Bruner. She had two Republican and two Democratic representatives who gave speeches on the platforms of their respective parties.

Exams will be scheduled the week before winter break.
Staff received professional development on Google Classroom.
The Junior Class field trip to Defiance College has been rescheduled for Nov. 30 to take the practice ACT. A review of the practice test will be given to parents Dec. 14.
Defiance College will also talk to students about the college application process, transitioning from high school to college and giving them a campus tour and lunch, following the ACT.
The sophomore class will visit the Four County Career Center Dec. 2.
Christmas for Kids fund drive with Mix 98.1 will be at the school Dec. 7.
The local Spelling Bee for grades 5-8 will be Dec. 8.
The boys varsity basketball season’s home opener is Dec. 8 against Montpelier.
The Drama Club will have matinee performances Dec. 10-11 and an evening performance Dec. 10.
Grades 5-8 band and choir program is at 2 and 4 p.m. Dec. 18.
Enrollment stands at 287.6 down from last month’s 290.6. Final enrollment for 2015-16 was 281.6.
The board approved overnight trips for the volleyball team for the state tournament and for the softball team for games and scrimmages in Cincinnati.
Complimentary passes to athletic and cultural events will be given to staff and senior residents of the school district.
