Edgerton wants to terminate the fiscal emergency it has been under for several years and fast.
The Village Council approved a plan where the village administrator will take reserves from several different funds and pay off the sewer loan debt. This will allow the village to apply for an end to fiscal emergency and avoid paying 100 percent of the state workers’ salaries who now oversee village operations.
The village will owe $292,000 by year’s end, but tapping into the other funds will not jeopardize its financial future, Administrator Dawn Fitzcharles said. Termination of the fiscal emergency will be sought in the first five day in January, she said.
In other news, the council approved a resolution to supplement the annual appropriations and another one to clarify the language concerning the resignation of David Brobst.

Crews have been working overtime collecting leaves. In the past two weeks, 36 loads were picked up.
The village has received $1,650 in donations for the Edgerton Area Foundation Matching Grant. That makes the match total $3,300. The goal is to roraise all the needed funds by mid-January for a scoreboard for the Pony League field as well as netting for three fields at Miller Park.
Council will meet at 6 p.m. Dec. 14 with department heads to discuss the capital improvement projects for 2017. At 7 p.m., council will meet with local government services to review the recovery plan and 5-year forecast.
Village offices will be closed Dec. 23 and 26 for Christmas and Jan. 2, 2017, for New Year’s.
Santa will be giving sleigh rides downtown 6-8 p.m. Dec. 16.
