DSCF4250 WEBShaun Nitschke, District Director of Boy Scouts of America, spoke to the Stryker Rotary Club about scouting programs in our four county areas. He became District Director in 2000 and said he enjoys the job as much today as when he began. Two years ago Defiance, Fulton, Henry and Williams Counties merged making the largest district in Ohio. Shaun spoke highly of all the volunteers, some of who have been assisting with the scouts for many years. He also stated that only six Silver Beaver awards are earned each year and his district’s volunteers received three of them this year. He also reported that every school system in the district has a Boy Scout troop as well as a Cub Scout pact. The Boy Scouts principles have remained the same in the 103 years it has been in existence. Scouts have been taught personal development and leadership all while having fun.
