Archbold Police Arrest More In 2016

Archbold’s Police Department drove fewer miles and made fewer traffic stops than the year before, but saw a spike in arrests.

The department presented its 2016 report to the Village Council Jan. 16.

The department drove the fewest miles in at least six years in 2016 at 62,803. The department drove 81,031 in 2015 with a high of 90,128 in 2011.

Officers made six arrests, compared to one in 2015, but saw traffic stops drop from 447 to 198. Forty-nine people were cited and 143 warnings were given.


One hundred two people were charged of which 29 were juveniles and 73 were adults.

The department reported 122 accidents, up from 111 in 2015.

February was declared Career and Technical Education Month.


The following department heads were officially named for 2017:

Police Chief Thom Ross

Fire Chief Andy Brodbeck, Dave Davis as of March 1.

Law Director Mark Hagans


The following appointments were affirmed.

Ed Leininger will be the council’s representative on the Planning Commission.

Kevin Morton will be the council member on the Park Board.

Carma Grime will be Planning Director.

Marty Mayer will be on the Board of Zoning Appeals.

Vaughn Bentz will be on the Park Board.

Donna Dettling will represent the village on the Fulton County Regional Planning Commission. Mayor Jeff Fryman will be the alternate.

Laurie Storrer will be the Clerk of Council and receive a salary of $3,295.
