Wauseon Board Of Education Opens Programs To Development

Wauseon Local Exempted Schools has signed a memorandum of understanding with two local companies to offer additional educational opportunities.

The MOU is with St. Mary Development Corp. and Preferred Properties Inc. with regard to the residents of Wauseon Village II. The district will work with the two firms to ensure residents have access to:

Free tutoring and/or afterschool academic support. This service is provided by the 21st Century Grant Staff or United Way Afterschool

Programming at Wauseon Primary, Elementary, Middle and High schools on selected weeknights during the school year and held at each individual school.


Vocational courses resulting in a certification or degree. This program is available at the high school and taught by the staff from Four County Career Center. Some will be at the FCCC and transportation will be provided by the district.

The Wauseon Board of Education met for its monthly noontime meeting at the high school Feb. 23.

The board accepted the following donations:
•$2,000 from the Wauseon Athletic Boosters to the Athletic Department for travel expenses.
•$61.68 from Christ United Methodist Church to middle school after school program for snacks.
•Approved modifications and supplemental modifications to the FY17 permanent appropriations.
•Increased the general fund $600,000;
•Increased permanent improvement $439,000
•Increased classroom facility PI $100,000;
•Increased WMS Student Activity $25,000.
•Offered a one-year limited non-athletic supplemental contract to Amanda Aniolowski as assistant musical director as Step 0 on the approved salary scale.


The next meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the administration building in Wauseon.
