Fayette, Ohio- On Sunday, April 9th at 3:00 p.m. the Opera House will welcome master organist Terry Jankowski to Fayette’s historic Opera House for a special Palm Sunday concert as a part of the Glasgow Reed Organ Series.

Doors for the concert will open at 2:30 with the one hour concert to begin at 3:00 p.m. in the Ginnivan Auditorium.

Toledo native Terry Jankowski has served as organist and music director for the IHM Sisters in Monroe, MI since 1998. He holds an undergraduate degree in music from Bowling Green State University and a Master of Arts from Marshall University. He is a colleague of the American Guild of Organists. He is also active in the Organ Historical Society, and has served as regional councilor of the Reed Organ Society. He has performed for all these organizations in several states and Canada. He has been featured in the Glasgow Reed Organ Series several times. In May of this year he will be traveling to the Netherlands on an historic pipe organ tour.

To focus on one of Fayette’s many church organists Our Lady of Mercy’s Catholic Church Barb Bruggeman will perform the prelude to Mr. Jankowski’s performance on the 1890’s vintage Mason & Hamlin Organ.
“It is an honor to have Terry back on stage at the Opera House” said Tom Spiess director of the Fayette Arts Council. “Terry has been a friend of the Glasgow Series for years and is one of several recognized organists who have shared their talent and support to Glasgow Series”. Spiess furthered noted that this Palm Sunday Concert is the first of a regularly scheduled focus on the roll of the organ in local churches. “Because of Terry’s affiliation with the Immaculate Heart of Mary community in Monroe, we thought it would be a splendid opportunity to involve our local Catholic community in this year’s effort”.

Pre Concert Luncheon
to Feature Notre Dame Author & Professor
Dr. Adrian Reimers of Notre Dame Univ. in South Bend will be on hand at a 12:30 luncheon to discuss the life and times of Pope John Paul II.
Dr. Reimers has spent much of his academic career researching and writing about John Paul II.

The influence of the Catholic Church on the course of world events has been profound and nowhere has that impact been more evident than during the life of Karol Wojtyla , Pope John Paul II.

Sunday’s conversations with a preeminent scholar, coupled with the concert that follows promises to shed light on the role of the church at the local, regional and international levels.

The dinner is donation only, with all proceeds dedicated to educational outreach programs supported by the Opera House and the Normal Project. Please call (419) 237-3111 and let us know you are planning to join us for the luncheon.

About the Glasgow Reed Organ Series
The restoration of the Opera House’s “vintage” 1890’s Mason & Hamlin (three manual) Reed Organ covered a two year period in the late 1990’s (nearly a century after its creation). The restoration effort was spearheaded by Mr. Don Glasgow and culminated in 2000 when it was rededicated in its new (1890’s) “vintage” home at the Fayette Opera House.

Over the course of the past seventeen years, the Glasgow Reed Organ Series has welcomed some of the finest professional and avocational organists from the United States, Canada, Japan and Europe to the Opera House to our stage to perform on the Mason and Hamlin, Alexander Harmonium and Seybold Reed Organs.

As always the concert will be followed by a post concert reception for the audience and the performers.

Tickets for the performance will be on sale at the door. General Admission tickets are $10 & $12 and may be reserved by calling and leaving a message at (419) 237-3111.
