Edon’s Cinderella Project Prom Dress Sale Held

Prom dresses and accessories can be very costly. Hundreds of dollars for sequins, tulle, satin, peek-a-boo styles, chandelier earrings, sequin crusted clutches, stilettos, tanning packages, hair and nail appointments…and the list can go on.

13 years ago, a vision by the late Robin Spangler brought the Cinderella Project to fruition. Ever since the birth of that vision, the students and teachers at Edon High School have made the Cinderella Project an annual event.

Hundreds of prom dresses, shoes, accessories, hand bags and jewelry are donated to be sold at a minimal cost. The proceeds, which have totaled over $10,000 over the years, are most often donated to charitable causes such as Cancer Assistance of Williams County and the Make A Wish Foundation. The gowns are pre-owned, but still in excellent condition. With the rising cost of the dresses and accessories, the Cinderella Project allows the hardly-worn prom gowns to be up-cycled to a new owner to make new memories in.

The Cinderella Project kicked off on March 31 with a fashion show of gowns that were borrowed by David’s Bridal in Ft Wayne, Indiana with prices ranging from $99-$450. The gowns donated and for sale, were sold for just $10 on Saturday April 1. The admission for the fashion show was a free-will donation that will be added to the final tally of funds that will be donated to Cancer Assistance of Williams County.
