Archbold, OH – Sauder Village will continue its tradition of providing guests with innovative music of faith during their upcoming Gospel Music Concert on Sunday, June 9 at 4:00 p.m. During the afternoon concert, the sounds of beautiful gospel music will fill the air as the Calvarymen Quartet, Shane Brothers Quartet and pianist Jim Stewart take the stage in Founder’s Hall at Sauder Village
Appearing for his 25th performance at Sauder Village, pianist Jim Stewart will be back to share his musical talents on the piano. Opening the concert at 3:30 p.m., Jim will entertain the crowd with both contemporary songs of praise and traditional hymns. Jim currently performs with the Messengers of Pettisville and has opened for groups like Greater Vision, Nelons, Crossway and The Greenes.

The afternoon concert will begin at 4:00 p.m. with performances by Calvarymen Quartet and Shane Brothers Quartet, the featured groups for the event this year. Guests are sure to enjoy the innovative sound of the Calvarymen Quartet from Burton Michigan as they sing classic southern gospel as well as cutting edge progressive gospel music. Since the group began in 1956, the Calvarymen Quartet has been a driving force in southern gospel music. Present day members include lead singer Barry Maust, baritone Steve Ratliff, tenor Phil Parkin and bass singer Jim Glasco. The group is regularly featured on the Gospel Music Television as well as radio stations across the United States. They have charted numerous songs nationally and continue to be recognized for their tight harmonies, accapella singing, and traditional southern gospel music.
The Shane Brothers Quartet, a Christian gospel group from Bluffton, IN, will also be performing at Sauder Village. Together members of the Shane Brothers Quartet have recorded more than 40 albums. Singing in the group are brothers Jeff, Mike and Rick Shane and Jim Loving. The troupe began in1992 and has since performed with notables like Glen Campbell, the Blackwood Brothers Quartet, the Kingsmen, the Florida Boys and Brian Free and Assurance. Quartet members enjoy each other’s company, love the message of the music and are value the opportunity to encourage Believers. The group appears yearly at churches, conventions, fairs, RV parks and other special events throughout the Midwest.
The afternoon gospel concert is included with admission to Historic Sauder Village. This award-winning destination offers plenty for guests to see and do while visiting historic homes, farms, gardens and community shops. Families can take a walk through time while exploring wigwams and a trading post at Natives & Newcomers and then continue to the Pioneer Settlement Area to experience life in Ohio from the 1830-1870 at the log school, church, barn, homes, gardens and more!
Throughout the Village guests can also marvel at craftsmen blending skill and creativity in glass, metals, fabric, wood and clay. Every day traditional and contemporary craftsmen not only demonstrate their trade but also offer hand-crafted items available for sale in places like the Spinning Shop, Pottery Shop, Weaving Shop, Glass Shop and Tiffin River Woodworks.
For guests with young children a visit to Sauder Village would not be complete without spending time in the log cabin, barn and garden at Little Pioneers Homestead or meeting the new baby animals in the barnyard. A ride on the horse-drawn carriage and a trip around the Village on the Erie Express Train are also popular activities.
Other favorite stops include a visit to the Ice-Cream Parlor, the Sweet Shoppe and Lauber’s General Store. The Barn Restaurant offers a unique place to enjoy a home-style meal and guests can always find delicious treats to take home from the Doughbox Bakery. For those looking to extend their stay, overnight accommodations are available at the Sauder Heritage Inn or Sauder Village Campground.
Historic Sauder Village is open this summer Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from noon-4:00 p.m. The Village is closed on Mondays, except holidays. Admission is $15.00/adults, $8.00/students (6-16) and free for members and children 5 and under. Active duty military personnel and their families are also free this season. Again this year, children 16 and under are free every Sunday this season – including for the Gospel Music Concert!
